What to do if you find an orphaned or injured animal?
If it is safe to do so, carefully collect the animal in a towel and place in a large box. Critters like quiet and darker places, so keep away from noise, dogs, children, loud voices, loud music, and televisions.
Call your local wildlife organisation – Wildlife Rescue Australia is a great place to start, as they will work hard to locate the nearest carer to you. Their number is 1300 596 457.
If the animal is injured, take to your local vet for assessment.

How can you help?
- Take time to stop and help animals when you can see they’re in trouble.
- Helping animals cross the road
- Moving animals away from immediate danger such as sitting in the middle of the road.
- Calling a Carer when the animal needs extra help that you can’t provide
- Get certified and become a registered wildlife carer
- Donate to wildlife carers and help them continue the important work they do.
Did you know?
Wildlife carers are self funded – they are not paid a wage or salary to care for wildlife.
Often they spend every last dollar on caring for the animals.
Very few government grants or assistance exists for wildlife carers, and the support that is available is hard to obtain, and doesn’t support longterm ongoing wildlife care.

- Building specialised Animal Hospital with dedicated indoor and outdoor areas, clean sink, prep areas, and storage.
- Specialised equipment like humidi-cribs essential for tiny baby orphan joeys
- Meat slicer – allows bulk prep of meat products for feeding birds – saving hours of manual chopping.
- Vermin proof Container storage
- Bulk feed for wide variety of animals
- Specialised species specific foods from high quality brands like Wombaroo and Vetafarm
- Small secure enclosures for animals like birds and possums
- Special bedding
- Implements and tools for handfeeding birds, removing ticks, and providing specialised medical supplies
- Being able to have Amber on the farm full time

Our next construction goal.
With the Animal Hospital and outdoor areas almost complete, we have our next construction goal in mind.
A proper flight-aviary for the birds.
This will enable those amazing birds we get from Raptors, to Nightjars, Owls, Cocktaoo’s, Galah’s, Lorrikeets and more to have a safe enclosure to test and rehabilitate wings for flying.
